Rest in peace, iTunes

The end of an era is upon us, Apple abandoning iTunes. The official announcement should be made at the upcoming World Developer Conference in San Jose, California.

Although diffusion is king in 2019, it is iTunes that killed the CD. With the release of iTunes and the iPod, music lovers could not only carry a gigantic amount of music on a device then tiny, but buy as many individual songs as possible instead of an entire album . The revolution revolutionizes the record industry, but also successfully fights against illegal downloading from services such as Napster.

The "end of iTunes" was revealed by Bloomberg in an article about the Worldwide Developers Conference:

iTunes is the means used by Apple users to listen to music, watch movies and TV shows, listen to podcasts and manage their devices for almost two decades. This year, Apple is finally ready to enter a new era. The company launches a trio of new applications for Mac – Music, Television and Podcasts – to replace iTunes. This corresponds to the strategy of multimedia applications from Apple on iPhone and iPad. Without iTunes, customers can manage their Apple gadgets via the Music app.

Instead of customers using iTunes for all their entertainment needs, Apple will split Music, Television and Podcasts into three separate apps for use on iPhones and iPads.
