The launch of Diablo II: Resurrected didn’t go exactly as planned, as a host of server issues and bugs made the game almost unplayable at launch. A few quickly released server-side fixes and improvements have since made the game playable, but it still suffers from a number of issues and some missing features. One of the things players were looking for an update on was ladder play (Diablo’s name for a competitive realm where everyone’s progress is tracked and ranked). Blizzard warned that the ladder would not be available at launch, but it was hoped that it would be introduced fairly quickly.
Well, that may or may not be the case. Blizzard says implementing ladder play is a priority, but that they can’t share when it arrives at this time. On the plus side, when the scale is launched it will come with a variety of “critical bug fixes” …
Last August, we announced that the Ladder Ranking Game in Diablo II: Resurrected would be available after launch. We made this decision because we wanted to give the players a fair chance to participate in the first season’s race on a level playing field, especially if there were any launch stability issues that could force that competitive experience. .
After our launch on September 23, we continue to evaluate our implementation of ranked play in Diablo II: Resurrected. We don’t have a specific time that we’re ready to share, but it’s a priority for our team as we move forward. We know that many players are eager to imprint their character’s name on the leaderboards to claim their legacy.
We’ll be kicking off the first Ranked Play Season with a handful of critical bugfixes to ensure that this competitive experience runs smoothly at the start of this exciting event. As soon as we have a more precise gauge on the timing, we’ll update the community so players have more than enough time to prepare for their ladder trips.
The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) has filed a lawsuit against Activision Blizzard, alleging widespread gender discrimination and sexual harassment at publisher Call of Duty. You can get more details about this story unfolding here.
Diablo II: Resurrected is available now on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, PS4, PS5, and Switch.
