Return 4 Blood Beta players swear zombies use slurs

Back 4 Blood generated quite a bit of buzz on social media this weekend, but maybe not in the way developer Turtle Rock Studios envisioned. In the middle of the next beta phase of the co-op shooter, which takes place in an early access phase until August 9, some players have become convinced that the game’s zombies are using slurs. While this might sound bizarre and is certainly not accurate, some zombie audio lines definitely made players spin on a loop.

As you can see in the video below which started to circulate on the user’s social media @HomBKE, one of the zombie cries of Back 4 Blood sounds like the creature is using the n-word. While the scream in question is surely nothing more than a gnarled howl, many who have played Back 4 Blood I really believe the audio line is incredibly reminiscent of that insult. In response to this tweet, some users started sharing videos of themselves hearing this same scream in their own versions of Back 4 Blood. Others simply wondered how this line was allowed to be used in the first place.

At this point the biggest question regarding this audio line in Back 4 Blood implies its use in the full game. Since the latest zombie shooter is still in beta, Turtle Rock could likely eliminate it from the final product before its release this fall. As of yet, Turtle Rock has not announced any such plans to do so, but we might find out more from the team in the coming days about that. If any further developments are shared, we will be sure to let you know.

Until there, Back 4 Blood will continue in that beta form next weekend when it becomes available to all players on August 12. And as for the game’s official launch, it’s slated to take place on October 12 and will arrive on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Did you cross that audio line for yourself in Back 4 Blood? And do you think it should be removed from the full game? Let me know your thoughts in the comments or message me on Twitter at @ Mooreman12.
