Return 4 Blood Streamers Risk Banned From Twitch Just For Playing The Game

The upcoming first-person shooter, Back 4 Blood, features copyrighted music on its soundtrack, which means it could be risky to stream online.

Back 4 Blood is a new multiplayer zombie shooter from Turtle Rock Studios due for release in full on October 12. But before the actual release, the developers informed fans of a potential issue with the game – its music.

As we’ve seen throughout 2021, streamers and Twitch have had to grapple with playing copyrighted music streaming. Progress has been made on the matter in recent weeks, but there is always the risk of getting banned if you play the wrong music.

On October 7, Turtle Rock warned streamers that they should turn the music down if they plan to stream Back 4 Blood, so as not to risk a ban.

“Watch out for creators! If you are broadcasting or planning # Back4Blood VOD content is important: the jukebox has licensed music that will play when it is used, ”Barry tweeted. “We don’t own the streaming rights to the songs that play, so be sure to turn off your music when interacting with the jukebox. “

The good news is that the jukebox isn’t the game’s only option for listening to music, but the fact that streamers can be banned from music already included in the game seemed to rub some people the wrong way.

“If you can’t get the streaming rights, don’t use that damn music in your game!” A user replied. It was a common complaint, but others pointed out that the majority of people who play games don’t stream them.

However, it was the developers who reported the problem in the first place, so it is only fitting that they already seem to have a solution in the works.

Responding to another user who wondered if a “stream safe” mute option would be added to the game, Barry confirmed that the developers were indeed working on one.

Whether it will be available when Back 4 Blood launches on October 12 remains to be seen, but if the developers are already tweeting about it, there’s a good chance it will.
