Revel in this American horror story of the 1980s: 1984 Looks

Gird your kidneys, American horror story fans: the first images of season 9 of the series of horror anthologies have arrived and they are (summer) campy like hell. The new season, subtitled 1984, seems to be taking place in a summer camp in the 80s. This is clearly a tribute to the classic slasher movies of the summer, as the Friday 13 and Night camp series of movies. This genre filled with teenagers and men in shorts has since been parodied in many films, from Wet american hot summer at The final girls.

It now seems that Ryan Murphy and his company are embarking on the beloved genre. In an article posted on Instagram, Murphy wrote: "To celebrate the first day of filming the ninth season of AMERICAN HORROR STORY, here is the official announcement of the 1984 distribution and some incredible quilts of the 80s. Have fun ! He then posted a series of camera tests featuring the cast:

The cast includes a mix of AHS veterans and newcomers, who dance and pose for Dan Hartman's "I Can Dream of You" movie in 1984. Emma Roberts, Cody Fern, Leslie Grossman and Billie Heavy are among the recurring players. They are joined by newcomers Matthew Morrison (Joy), DeRon Horton (Dear whites), Angelica Ross (pose), Zach Villa (Shameless), and Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy, who strangely resembles Richard Madden.

The band appears in a variety of 80s looks with a nod to the archetypes of the day: Emma Roberts in the role of the good girl, Billie Heavy in the blond chick rocker, Kenworthy in the jock. The time spent in front of the camera is very important. We do not know much about their characters except for Ross, who wears a stethoscope, so I guess she's the camp nurse. John Carroll Lynch also appears as a murderer, but I would not expect anything less from the man who gave us Freak Show"Creepy Twisty the Clown.

Absolutely absent are AHS Stars Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, who participated in all seasons of the series. Paulson is expected to have a significantly reduced role, partly because of his star in Murphy's upcoming Netflix series Ratched, who will tell the origin of the famous nurse Ratched of Flight over a cuckoo's nest. We do not know yet if Peters will make an appearance.

Unfortunately, AHS queen of bees, Jessica Lange, will not participate because she retired from the series. While she was picking her up House of murder role in apocalypse for a cameo, she does not intend to return. However, if these first looks are quite remarkable, we will have a camper season and dark AHS, aka my favorite version of the series.

American horror story: 1984 premieres on September 18th on FX.
