The Mazda CX-5 has long been one of the most popular compact crossover SUVs sold in the United States since its debut in 2012. Although the second-generation CX-5, which debuted in 2017, only not selling as well as the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, industry leaders, it certainly stands out.
Until April, Toyota sold just under 118,000 RAV4s, while Honda moved about 116,000 CR-Vs. During the same period, Mazda sold 47,000 respectable CX-5s.

Last year, Business Insider had the chance to spend a week with a 2018 Mazda CX-5. We were impressed by the CX-5's sleek design, stellar driving dynamics and a surprisingly luxurious interior. .

However, the CX-5 was not quite perfect. It's powerful enough, but its naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine did not have the punch of a supercharged engine. Inside, the infotainment system was dull.
This year, Mazda made several changes to the CX-5, including the addition of the supercharged engine of the larger CX-9 SUV.

The Mazda CX-5 Sport 2019 base with front-wheel drive starts at $ 24,350, while the Signature high-end version starts at $ 36,890. All-wheel drive is a $ 1,400 option on the Sport, Touring and Grand Touring versions. It is standard on Grand Touring Reserve and Signature versions.
With options and fees, the price of our CX-5 Signature mount has been evaluated at $ 39,905. It is the most expensive compact SUV in the mass market that has been tested by Business Insider.
