REVOLT would never do it! Macy’s Thanksgiving parade cuts Patti Labelle’s performance

As we munched on our beans, greens, potatoes, and tomatoes, Macy’s 94th Annual Thanksgiving Parade was held in Midtown Manhattan.

Miss Patti Labelle blessed the event with her presence. The Grammy Award-winning singer performed an uplifting version of her 2007 track, “It’s the Most Beautiful Time of the Year.” outside Macy’s flagship store in Herald Square, bringing genuine joy to a virtual holiday season.

She gave legendary races from an elevated platform as dancers trotted around her and spectators struggled to glimpse her greatness through the barriers of social distancing.

But those who enjoyed the moment in the comfort of their own homes missed the diva’s song because the production allowed commentators to talk about her song. Excuse us?

As she continued to perform, some of the hosts began to report that actor Matthew Morrison was set to appear in the parade as the Grinch.

Black Twitter immediately flared up as people were shocked that mere ordinary voices dared to obscure the Queen’s enchanted song. But before they could properly snap their fingers to start defending her, suddenly another gruesome tragedy appeared on their screens.

The TV show interrupted the performance while Labelle still sang the song.

This action was the last straw for the Twitter streets. They immediately redoubled their efforts to train the production team for what they saw as a choice not to respect Labelle’s talent. They spoke about its musical impact and its importance to black culture.

Find out below how people came together to capture Labelle’s legacy.
