CRÊME PHILADELPHIA – Rhys Hoskins rarely seems to touch those meaningless circuits that lead to brilliant victories or defeats.

He hits homers who matter.

He scored another goal on Friday in the Nationals' 4-2 win at Citizens Bank Park. Seranthony Dominguez had allowed Nationals receiver Kurt Suzuki to start the sixth run, but the Phillies placed the runners in first and second place at the end of the heat. Hoskins went into the batter's penalty area and crushed the 1-1 slider from left-handed Nationals Dan Jennings in the left seat for a three-point run to give the Phillies a two-point lead.

Hoskins has 10 home runs this season. No Phillies player has scored 10 homers since the first 31 games of the team since Chase Utley (30th game) and Raul Ibanez (31st game) in 2009.

Hoskins has 62 homers since his major league debut on August 10, 2017. No one has more in the National League. Only Khris Davis (70) from Oakland and J.D. Martinez (70) from Boston scored more runs during that period.

Thirty-four of Hoskins' 62 career circuits (54.8%) either tied the game or gave the Phillies a lead.

Only Davis (36) has had more since the beginning of Hoskins.

For this season, the 28 points produced by Hoskins rank sixth overall.

Phillies right-hander Jerad Eickhoff allowed three hits, one point and three walks in five sets. He dropped seven. He was out of control for the previous starts and had four goals against 3-2, but he struggled to keep the Phillies in the game.
