Richard Seymour apparently thinks he and Tom Brady had another Lombardi Trophy stolen from their resume.
Brady tweeted on Tuesday his support for Seymour, who was recently named a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction. The two won three Super Bowl titles together while teammates with the New England Patriots.
Seymour responded by thanking Brady while wishing the 43-year-old good luck ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ NFC Championship game with the Green Bay Packers. The three-time All-Pro defensive lineman then made a bold statement about Super Bowl XLII, in which the previously undefeated Patriots lost to the New York Giants, thanks in large part to a miraculous capture from David Tyree.
According to Seymour, the iconic piece should have been canceled.
So, does Seymour have a point?

Now the more we look at this piece the more we think Seymour has a case. In particular, you’ll see Seymour clearly being held by a Giants offensive lineman. Seymour could have been barred from doing a play on quarterback Eli Manning, who sort of dodged five sacks before throwing a prayer at Tyree.
Having said that, it’s a tough call to make in such an important place. Of course, you want the umpires to call the game the right way, but you also want them to swallow their whistles at times.
Was this the kind of moment that should have required a whistleblower? Seymour clearly believes it, but it remains to be debated.
As for Brady, he will look to bolster his own Hall of Fame bid on Sunday afternoon when he and the Bucs face Aaron Rodgers and the Packers at Lambeau Field. Brady, 43, is looking for his 10th Super Bowl appearance and his first since 2018, when the Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams.
