Free agent cornerback Richard Sherman was arrested Wednesday morning and convicted of “domestic violence burglary” at the Seattle Correctional Center, according to Adam schefter from ESPN.
The 33-year-old was denied bail.
Sherman has not been formally charged and cannot be charged until his court appearance Thursday afternoon, per Schefter.

A spokesperson for the police department said, according to ESPN, that “a call to 911 from the residence was received at 2 a.m. PT. The person who called said an adult member of the family who did not live in the residence were trying to force entry. “
Upon arrival of the police, according to the spokesperson, the suspect fought with the police before being apprehended.

Sherman has spent the last three years with the San Francisco 49ers after playing his first seven years with the Seattle Seahawks. He is not signed until the 2021 season.
The 2011 fifth-round pick was one of the NFL’s best ever since joining the league, winning five Pro Bowl selections while being named to the All-Pro First Team three times. He helped the Seahawks win a Super Bowl during the 2013 season and was selected for the Team of the Decade for the years 2010.
Calf strain has limited Sherman to five games in 2020, but he was looking to return to the field next season.
