Richard Sherman was in a courtroom Friday arguing for the five counts of misdemeanor he faces after being arrested in Redmond, Washington earlier this week.
According to several reports, Sherman has pleaded not guilty to all five counts. Sherman is charged with Second Degree Criminal Trespassing with an Element of Domestic Violence, Reckless Endangering of Road Crews, Driving Under the Influence, Resisting Arrest and Malicious Mischief with an Element of Domestic Violence for trying to break into his in-laws. home and driving offenses on the way home.
Sherman appeared in court with his wife and issued a statement earlier Friday calling himself “deeply remorseful” for his actions while promising to “get the help” he needs for his mental health issues.
Sherman is currently a free agent and the veteran cornerback’s chances of playing this season may depend on how long it takes to do that job while his legal case works its way through the system. The 49ers, Sherman’s most recent team, have offered their support to Sherman and his family following his arrest this week.
