More news surfaced on Thursday regarding Richard Sherman’s arrest.
Sherman’s stepfather Raymond Moss apparently had a handgun in his possession and he fired pepper spray at the former All-Pro cornerback, according to the police report.
Moss was trying to protect his family as Sherman tried to break down the door to enter his in-laws’ house. Moss told investigators the NFL star partially broke the door by repeatedly hitting it with his shoulder.

Moss said Sherman yelled, “Come on, Ray!” threateningly.
“The family started screaming in fear,” Moss told police. “I used pepper spray on Sherman’s face through the partially open door as he still knocked and tried to enter. I told him to stop. I cocked my handgun in it. moment, fearing for my safety and that of my family. “
A 911 call obtained by KIRO revealed alarming details leading to Sherman’s arrest. Moss, who made the call, could be heard telling the dispatcher that her husband was “drunk” and had threatened to kill himself. She noted that he was “aggressive” and had become “physical” with a member of his family.
Moss expressed concern for Sherman’s safety, telling the dispatcher he was unarmed. She also said he consumed two bottles of alcohol.
Sherman is under investigation for two incidents that occurred early in the morning of July 14. State police received a report of a possibly impaired driver at around 1:26 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle, which was registered to Sherman’s name, crashed into a construction site somewhere along Highway 520 before driving away. The damaged vehicle was found less than a mile away, abandoned.
Redmond Police received another call just before 2 a.m. regarding an ongoing burglary. Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe told a press conference on Wednesday that police approached Sherman outside the residence and spoke for about 10 minutes before advising him that he ‘he would be arrested, at which point he tried to leave.
Lowe said a police dog was used to stop him and Sherman suffered a cut to his lower leg. He noted that the front door of the house was severely damaged.
Lowe also clarified that the domestic violence burglary charge was due to Sherman’s relationship with the owners of the residence – his in-laws – and not because of “violence against a close family member.”

Sherman, 33, is a free agent. He spent seven seasons with the Seattle Seahawks before playing three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.
The NFLPA released a statement on Wednesday saying it was aware of the arrest.
“We have been made aware of the arrest last night of one of our player leaders for an alleged incident of domestic violence and have activated our domestic violence crisis protocol for the protection and support of all involved,” we read in the press release posted on Twitter. “We will continue to monitor events closely as more facts become available to us.”
