When the Raiders hired Richie Incognito, their guard, in late May, they had to be well aware that he could face the discipline of the league after several legal incidents from 2018 which were extremely worrying. On Friday, the NFL finally sentenced Incognito.

As reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN, Incognito was suspended two games for violation of the league's personal conduct policy.

More precisely, the suspension relates to an incident at a funeral home in August, according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL network. During the incident in question, Incognito wanted to cut off the head of his dead father and threatened to shoot the employees of the funeral home if they did not give him access to his father's body., according to the police report. Police found guns in his truck. He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in March, two months before the Raiders sign it.

Incognito is best known for his role in the Jonathan Martin intimidation scandal who hit the dolphins in 2013. He spent the entire 2014 season out of the league, but came back in 2015 to play for the Bills. He spent three seasons in Buffalo and won three trips to the Pro Bowl, but retired after the 2017 season quote health problems only to withdraw in May 2018. A year later, after a few off-site incidents, including the one that suspended him, Incognito found his new home in the NFL in Oakland.

With the Raiders, Incognito, 36, should leave to the left guard. While he is fighting the Broncos and Chiefs at weeks 1 and 2, Denzelle Good should replace him. Incognito will be eligible to return to the Raiders Week 3 date with the Minnesota Vikings.

Given his past off the field, the Raiders' decision to sign Incognito was controversial. But on the field, Incognito – a Pro Bowler four times – should help the Raiders. He will be asked to prepare the ground for rookie Josh Jacobs while offering Derek Carr – a quarterback who often collapses under pressure – adequate protection.
