The episode sees Rick delve into Birdperson’s mind in order to retrieve him and bring him back to life after rebuilding his body, and through his memories, Rick encounters a version of himself created by Birdperson’s visions in the past. These two Ricks soon join forces as they weave their way through Birdperson’s fractured mind, and our Rick learns about what’s to come in the future.

That includes telling him about Morty, and this is where the big news falls. Young Rick calls Principal Rick “one of those creeps moving in with abandoned adult Bethes.” While Rick says it’s more complicated than that, young Rick soon reveals that Rick is in fact living with a version of their deceased daughter. So Rick’s real Beth isn’t the one we meet on the show, nor Space Beth, but a Beth who died in her past.

Rick then hammers it in saying that the younger version will eventually become the current Rick, so this is further confirmation that not only has something happened to Diane, but it looks like something has happened to her real Beth in the past. . And he only lives with a version of his Beth who did not die in another universe besides his own.
