The 38-year-old man was arrested and charged after being identified as a suspect in the Oct. 1 attack on “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” actor, New York City police said on Saturday.
NYPD Sgt. Anwar Ishmael told CNN that the alleged assailant has been charged with second degree assault. The NYPD said the attack occurred in broad daylight, just before 7:30 a.m. on Central Park West near 70th Street.
Video captured by surveillance cameras shows a man walking towards Moranis, 67, and punching him in the head, causing him to fall to the ground.
Moranis’ management and lawyers said at the time the actor was fine and had no serious injuries.
the NYPD said on Twitter that the suspect was identified by a member of the NYPD transit office. CNN asked if an attorney had been appointed for the suspect.
