Rivian reveals price and release dates for production R1T and R1S versions

Rivian has revealed pricing and release dates for its R1T electric pickup truck and R1S SUV. The company also announced that its configurator will be available to pre-order holders on November 16. Rivian will send pre-order holders an email to unlock early access to its configurator, which will be available to the public by November 23.

Rivian will begin shipments in the United States with its limited R1T and R1S launch editions in June 2021 and August 2021, respectively. It plans to begin deliveries of the R1T and R1S Launch Edition in Canada by November 2021. The company encourages pre-order holders who wish to acquire the Launch Edition vehicles to reserve one as soon as possible as supplies will be limited.

The R1T and R1S Launch Edition will come with the Rivian Premium Adventure Pack and special interior badges. Launch Edition vehicles will also feature a unique paint option called “Launch Green,” as well as 20 “or 22” all-terrain sport wheels at no additional charge. The first vehicles will offer an estimated range of over 300 miles, which suggests that the vehicles will be equipped with Rivian’s 135 kWh battery.

Rivian’s Gear Sets

Rivian will offer two equipment packs in its configurator called “Adventure” and “Explore”. Both sets of equipment feature the same transmission and four-engine configuration, as well as independent air suspension, active damping and electro-hydrualic roll control.

They are also equipped with an all-glass panoramic roof, vegan leather seats, WiFi and 4G capabilities and a 1000 lumen flashlight on the driver’s side door. Each package has its own characteristics.

The Adventure Pack is basically the Launch Edition minus the special Launch Green paint option, interior branding, and freewheel upgrade. It comes standard with Rivian’s off-road upgrade, which includes a reinforced underbody shield and on-board air compressor. A motorized tonneau cover is also included, along with the company’s “Gear Guard” remote monitoring system.

Inside the vehicle, the Adventure Package includes heated and cooled perforated vegan seats, a natural-grained ash wood cabin, and the electric truck maker’s Rivian Elevation 360 ° audio system with a removable Bluetooth speaker. Deliveries for the R1T and R1S adventure packages that are not part of the launch edition will begin in January 2022.

Rivian’s Explore Pack is the most affordable version listed by the electric car maker. It has a ‘sport interior’ with matte black finishes throughout the cabin and heated vegan leather seats. The Explore package also comes with a standard surround sound system.

Unlike the Adventure Pack, the Explore Pack’s tonneau cover is manual. However, the barrel lid panels are designed to lock together to serve as a camping table. Rivian will begin shipping its Explore Package version in January 2022.

Rivian did not reveal all of the specifications for the R1T EV pickup or the R1S SUV. However, the clean-energy automaker has shared information about batteries and the R1T and R1S vehicle driver assistance system, named Rivian Driver +. More details on the specifications and features of the R1T and R1S could be released once the company’s configurator becomes available later this month.
