RNC Chairman urges Michigan board to suspend certification of election results

State and state Republicans have made last-minute efforts to prevent the Michigan State Solicitors Council from certifying the presidential election results.

In a letter sent on Saturday, Republican National Committee Chairman Ronna McDaniel and Republican Michigan President Laura Cox urged the board to adjourn for 14 days to allow for a full audit and investigation so that “digital anomalies and credible reports of ‘procedural irregularities’ can be corrected.

“Simply glossing over these irregularities now without a thorough audit would only encourage a sense of mistrust among the Michigan electorate,” the letter read, echoing the Trump campaign talking points. Republican US Senate candidate John James has also called for a postponement for similar reasons. The letter was first reported by MLive.com.
