As Trump contemplates a return in 2024, the committee has been careful to be neutral, since the former president is no longer an incumbent. He invited other potential presidential candidates to his annual winter meeting earlier this month. Trump did not end up making an appearance in person at the event, which happened the same week as the Capitol Riot.
It has not been decided where in Palm Beach the April donor retreat will take place. But people familiar with the planning say it won’t be in Mar-a-Lago.
The retreat generally attracts a range of major donors. The committee has also chosen in recent years to hold its spring conference in Palm Beach.
