The roads leading to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) have been reopened after a “security incident” that resulted in traffic at the airport Thursday morning.
“The entrance routes to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) have reopened to all traffic, and operations are gradually returning to normal following a previous security incident outside of Terminals 2 and 3,” the airport said in a statement posted on Twitter. “Please bet patient as FLL employees, including TSA and CPB staff, are allowed to return to the airport to resume operations.”
Police closed all entrances to Fort Lauderdale International Airport (FLL) earlier Thursday morning amid an investigation outside Terminals 2 and 3. A notice posted on the airport’s Twitter account has advised passengers of potential disruptions at 4:35 a.m. local time.
An airport representative did not confirm the cause of the investigation.
Travelers outside of FLL, meanwhile, had said on Twitter that they were experiencing traffic and flight delays during the investigation.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
