SHARTLESVILLE, Pa. – A popular Berks County road destination is closing after 85 years in business.

The Model Railroad Village of Roadside America announced its final closure on Saturday in a Facebook post after more than three years of searching for a potential buyer.

“Almost 3 years ago, we decided to place the display for sale, in the hope of finding a buyer who would continue trading. Despite meeting with several interested parties over the past 2 years, each with their own vision, none have committed to moving the village forward. “

In the coming weeks, Roadside America is announcing that it will be auctioning all exhibits, including buildings, bridges, characters and animations.

The organization thanks its valued customers and supporters.

“There are no words to express how grateful we are to each of you, our valued customers and supporters. We feel truly lucky to have been a part of your family traditions, memories and your precious moments. ”
