It's easy to understand why Magic Johnson could not trust Rob Pelinka.
Pelinka, whose disastrous tenure as chief executive of the Lakers hit a new low when former team president (Johnson) recently accused the former treason officer has been known to the franchise for telling multiple sources in a misleading or totally false way, said ESPN.
One of the biggest lies of former Kobe Bryant agent was caught in the news that Pelinka was preparing a dinner for the Lakers legend and Heath Ledger – after the death of the actor.
In front of the entire team in March 2018, alongside Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, guest speaker, as part of the team's "Genius Talks" series, Pelinka shared this fictional anecdote.
"Once upon a time when Kobe, with whom I had been working for 18 years, was returning to play at Madison Square Garden, and he had just seen 'The Dark Knight,'" Pelinka told the team. Obviously, you've seen this movie, and he says, "Hey, wait for me to dine with Heath Ledger, because he's so trapped in that role." I want to know how he mentally went there. Then he had dinner with Heath and explained how he managed to play a role.
"And Kobe used some of that in his game against the Knicks."
Ledger died six months before the release of the film in July 2008 and posthumously won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
