Kevin Porter Jr. has been one of the few bright spots of a miserable season for the Rockets, writes Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle. Porter has been spectacular in his first two games since his recall from the G League, averaging 20.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 9.0 assists.
Houston acquired Porter for a conditional second-round pick in January after exhausting his welcome at Cleveland due to problems off the field. He was a small forward with the Cavaliers, but the Rockets moved him to the point guard after getting him experimenting with the position with Rio Grande Valley.
“He has a sort of serenity for him,” said the coach Stephen silas. “It’s just composed for a young kid, don’t go too high, too low, it’s a stabilizing influence on the rest of the group, when you have the guy who has the ball in his hands most of the time, which was (Friday) for him to play that way and not be rocked by a run from the opposing team or a roll or bad play, just have the next play mentality, that’s pretty cool for a youngster man to be like that. He played two games for us. We are not going to exaggerate anything. But we think we have something there.

- David Nwaba Extended recovery time was expected after straining his wrist in a February 28 game, but he asked to play on Friday because many of his teammates are unavailable, Feigen says in another story. - The Rockets will use their 24th starting roster in 37 games on Sunday, Feigen adds. Injuries and lack of continuity played a big part in the team’s 15-game losing streak. “The sooner we can get to the point that we know what our starting lineup will be, what our rotation off the bench will be, the better for the group,” he added. Silas said. “Obviously it hasn’t been like this all season.”
