Although it stands out as one of the most logical business candidates in the market, Jon gray remains in Colorado with nine hours until this afternoon’s trade deadline. Those pullback and walk rates are a far cry from his career bests, and Gray’s average heating to 94.8mph is down from his peak of 96.1mph in 2017. But Gray also limits hard contact. at the best rates of his career. and has been a generally durable starter for the Rox this season. He is playing with a salary of $ 6 million in his last season of controlling the club before free agency.
Given all of this and the Rockies’ obvious lack of playoff chances, there are plenty of teams that should try to acquire Gray – and it looks like the interest is there. Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports that the Blue Jays, Padres, Mariners, White Sox and Mets are among the clubs that have spotted and shown varying levels of interest in Gray.
