The Rockies have announced they have placed four players – Antonio Senzatela, Jhoulys Chacin, Yency Almonte and Yonathan Daza – on the list of injured COVID-19. Left handed Ben bowdenacrobat Sam hilliard and right-handed Antonio Santos were recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque, as the reliever Zac Ross Cup was selected on the list of major leagues. Additionally, manager Bud Black and first baseman Ron Gideon were left out of tonight’s game against the Dodgers as part of contact tracing efforts.

Placement on the COVID-19 list does not mean that all four players involved have tested positive. Players can land on the IL to experience viral symptoms or to be exposed to the virus.

Rosscup has been selected from the list as a COVID replacement player. Under 2021 health and safety protocols, he can be removed from the 40 men without being exposed to waivers upon the return of any of the players he has been selected to replace. The 33-year-old southpaw has a 5.16 / 3.80 SIERA ERA in six seasons in the big leagues. He’s been nearly untouchable this year in Triple-A, with a 0.52 ERA on 17 1/3 frames with an excellent strikeout rate of 37.3%.
