Rockstar makes PC game launcher, gives free San Andreas

Rockstar Games now has a game launcher that allows you to download their titles on PC and you will get a free copy of San Andreas if you download it now.

Today, the manufacturer of GTA has released the Rockstar Games Launcher as a way to unify and tightly control its PC games. The launcher comes with GTA: San Andreas 100% free and requires the Social Club to access specific games. All digital rights are linked to this account. The launcher has a capacity of about 1 GB and includes built-in backups in the cloud.

Interestingly, you will now access the new games directly from the launcher. Games like GTA V and Max Payne 3 can not be started from Steam, but only from the Rockstar game launcher.

This could imply an imminent release of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC. It's also a showcase that sells Shark Cards and Rockstar's own games. Expect all future Rockstar titles to be 100% exclusive to the launcher. This means that RDR2 on PC will probably not be sold on Steam or Epic Games Store.

Rockstar can encircle its games with a built-in DRM framework via the launcher to protect its games, but especially to control and compile all data collected from online components such as RDR Online and GTA Online.
