Rockstar puts the last nail in the coffin

While the multiplayer-only Red Dead Online continues to enjoy renewed support from Rockstar, the single-player component of the game is being left behind.

Rockstar Games has basically confirmed that its 2018 Wild West adventure, Red Dead Redemption 2, will not receive any downloadable content for a single player. The Open World Gunslinger is a 2010s prequel Red Dead Redemption, with a cast of new and returning characters. The game also offers an online multiplayer mode, Red Dead Online, which continues to receive frequent updates.

While Red Dead Redemption received a very popular solo expansion in the form of Undead nightmare, Rockstar support RDR2 has been confined exclusively to the online multiplayer component of the game. Red Dead Online recently received a new Halloween-themed game mode called Dead of Night, which pits groups of players against each other – as well as a horde of NPC zombies. The game mode is a nod to the DLC from the first game, but players don’t have the option of tackling the undead horde on their own. After a long content drought, frequent updates and special bonus weeks are now rolled out regularly for Red Dead Online, clearly demonstrating where Rockstar’s development priorities lie.

Now, Rockstar has hinted very strongly that no additional solo content is being created for Red Dead Redemption 2 an interview with GamesRadar. While the game is now two years old, which makes single-player DLC unlikely, many players were hoping for even more solo adventures in the Wild West. In the interview, Rockstar developer Scott Butchard explained:

“Right now, the team is focused on building above and into the world of Read Dead Online. This world, this era, offers so many possibilities for storytelling and introduction of a wide range of different characters. , all of which can be experienced on your own or with a full party. It is really important for us to make sure that each type of player can experience the stories we have to tell and control how they experience it all in Read Dead Online. “

The lack of more solo content for Red Dead Redemption 2 shouldn’t surprise Rockstar Games fans, like their previous title Grand Theft Auto 5 never received solo DLC. Instead Grand Theft Auto Online received all of Rockstar’s post-launch support, as did Red Dead Online. The 2013 Crime Adventure online multiplayer portion continues to receive updates today, with a big Halloween event taking place last month.

For those familiar with Rockstar Games and their recent titles, it is hardly surprising that Red Dead Redemption 2 will not receive solo content. Rockstar has shown a much greater interest in online multiplayer games, such as Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online, that earn them a lot of money from dedicated players. Red Dead Redemption 2The single player story is considered to be one of the greatest video game experiences ever, and so this final nail in the coffin is sure to sting many fans.
