ROD STEWART has been fighting secretly for prostate cancer for three years.
The singer of Maggie May was diagnosed with illness in February 2016 following a routine examination.
The 74-year-old made this revelation during a speech delivered during a fundraiser for the Charity Prostate Project during the weekend.
Fortunately, the most common cancer in the United Kingdom in the UK, thankfully, Stewart has been in remission since July, after catching the disease early.
The singer, father of eight, said that a positive attitude was essential to overcome the exhausting and sometimes difficult treatment.
He also urged men to submit to regular checks.
"Guys, you really have to go to the doctor," he says, according to the Daily Mirror.
"Touch the buttocks, no harm.
"Nobody knows, but I thought it was about the time to tell everyone.
"I'm in a vacuum now, just because I caught it early, I have so many tests."
In the United Kingdom alone, one in eight men will develop prostate cancer.
The disease is diagnosed every year in more than 40,000 men, while the risk of prostate cancer increases with age.
The majority of cases occur in men aged 50 or older, while obesity can also increase the chances of developing the deadly disease.
