St. Nicodemus Hagiorite was born in 1749 in Naxos, a town located in the south-east of 39; Cyclades archipelago of the sea Aegean Sea (Greece). Until the entry of monasticism, Nicolae Kallivurtzis was appointed. At the age of 16, Nicholas was sent to Smirna to teach Professor Jerome's teachings. There, he learned Latin and French, becoming a scholar, connoisseur of holy fathers, Christian aghiography and canons.

After completing his studies in 1770, Nicholas returned to Naxos, where he was appointed secretary by Metropolitan Antimos. After several visits to Mount Athos, Nicholas entered monasticism (at Dionysos Monastery) at the age of 26. And after two years of listening, he was a rasophone, receiving the name of Nicodemus

At that time, Bishop Macarius of Corinth asked Nicodemus to correct and prepare the print "Filocalia ". The artwork was printed in 1782 in Venice. The number of patristic writers included in the collection is 36 and covers a period of 1100 years, that is to say the 4th-15th centuries. Also at the request of the bishop, the scholar Nicodim also reviewed the "Everghetinosul" as well as "About the Endless Communion". Nicodemus the Hagiorite also published patristic books and the Orthodox faith, moving to the eternal on July 14, 1809.
