The European Union has put in place three sanction mechanisms after the annexation of Crimea in 2014: a ban on all s European investments in Crimea and Sevastopol renewed every six months, the last time at the European summit of 25 June 2018.
These economic sanctions affect Russian banks, companies of the Russian defense industry and the oil sector and forbids Europeans to make financial investments in Russia.
