The Federation of Cancer Patients Associations (FABC), in partnership with the Oncological Institute "Al.I. Trestioreanu" in Bucharest, announces the creation of the first multidisciplinary support group, developed in a hospital, to patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer.
The main objective of this project is to facilitate dialogue and exchange of experiences between patients, colorectal cancer survivors and specialists in the field. Among the goals of the support group include:
- increase the level of information for patients
- increase the level of knowledge about the importance of good nutrition in the management of colorectal cancer (what foods help and what foods are harmful)
- anxiety caused by illness
- decreasing the state of physical and mental exhaustion
The medical team taking part in group sessions is composed of two oncologists, a psychologist and a nutritionist. They will answer all patient questions, helping them better manage the impact of the disease in all its aspects
Group meetings will be held in Al. I. Trestioreanu "Bucharest, twice a month, in separate groups for women and men.The start time is 15:30, meetings last until 3 o'clock and access is free The exact program is:

Colorectal cancer is the second most common type of cancer in Europe in terms of the responsible mortality rate of about 230,000 deaths in our continent each year. In Romania, 10,256 patients are diagnosed each year with this form of cancer, while 5,675 of them lose the disease each year.
