Keeping the schedule last year, Huawei was able to unveil the latest high-end chipset from IFA Berlin, from August 31 to September 5. But until then, the information disclosed by sources close to the company throw little light on the list of specifications

Thus, we learn about Kirin 980 that he uses the Finnet manufacturing process 7nm developed by TSMC, more efficient in energy consumption and scalable at high operating frequencies. Huawei chose to take advantage of these two advantages by choosing the corta-core processor that comes with the Kirin 980 chipset as a pair of the high-performance Cortex-A77 core and the best-performing Cortex-A55. In the 4 + 4 configuration, they can reach 2.8 GHz together.

The processing power is complemented by a neural processing accelerator, developed using newly acquired AI technologies from a company called Cambricorn, specializing in this field.

According to rumors, Huawei will also include a proprietary design GPU from HiSilicon's subsidiary. It is 1.5 times faster than the Adreno 630 solution of the current generation of high-end smartphones, powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset.

According to preliminary tests with the AnTuTu 7 benchmark, devices equipped with the Kirin 980 chipset offer boost (19659004)

The Kirin 980 chipset could begin with the next flagship models, Huawei Mate 20 and Huawei Mate 20 Pro, ready to be launched at the end of this year
