At the end of a very tense meeting of the North Atlantic Alliance, President Klaus Iohannis said in a press release that it was about A "really exciting" summit with "good conclusions".

Iohannis said Romania has achieved two things that it considers important. First, an operational command center (tactical and strategic) that will host 400 senior officers from all NATO countries. Second, an improvement in the status of the international brigade – it has become permanent.

A third result highlighted by President Iohannis, an entire session was organized at the initiative of Romania – the session on the Black Sea. The Alliance now has plans for the Black Sea region to be "persuasive".

From the president's point of view, "NATO's posture has been strengthened at this summit."

With regard to today's unannounced session Mr. Klaus Iohannis said that it was an intense "money talk", but that there was no question of breaking NATO. The president pointed out that we have allies who spend less than 1% of GDP today, but that they are committed to increasing their defense spending. It was discussed that the 2% perspective was exceeded and is a subject that will be discussed at future summits.

On the session devoted to NATO's mission in Afghanistan: Romania will increase the number of Afghanistan personnel from 700 to more than 950 (military, gendarmes and civilian personnel). "A significant increase for Romania," said the president, "NATO is not only about receiving security but also about providing security." He said that our presence in Afghanistan is a presence based on Article 5 and that our soldiers enjoyed Afghanistan.

Asked about the conflict between the United States and Germany, Iohannis claimed that there was no danger of rupture of the alliance and that he there was no conflict. From the president's point of view, Trump "calmly says his name, as is normal between friends and allies."

Asked about the command center, Iohannis said it was a lot of work, based on bilateral discussions; things are just beginning

With regard to Donald Trump's proposal to increase defense budgets to 4% in the future, Iohannis said that it was a valid discussion, especially given the hypermilitarization of Crimea by Russia.

President Iohannis was questioned by journalists present at the Liviu Dragnea conference and attack last night. He was irritated and denied that he was involved in the conviction of Dragnea or that he would have dictatorial clashes. "The man took too much hat, he did not do it.I finished his political arguments and I have an inappropriate and disturbing approach."

Asked about the question of knowing he is preparing a suspension by the PSD-ALDE alliance, Iohannis replied in one word: "obsession". Moreover, he denied that he would delay the projects of the government coalition, but will exercise his constitutional powers only because "under the direction of this Dragnea, he is legislating."
