The Kirin 980 is the processor that Huawei is preparing next to the Mate 20 series. On tech sites and blogs in the com dot have found more unofficial information about this processor.
The official launch of the Kirin 980 will take place at IFA Berlin 2018, as Kirin 970.
Kirin 980 will develop on a FinFET lithography process developed by TSMC in 7nm. The AI side developed alongside Cambricon would be enhanced to provide a superior user experience (the ability to do 5 trillion calculations / watt).
The new Huawei processor is a 4 core octa-core with ARM Cortex-A77 that goes up to 2.8 GHz and 4 cores on the ARM Cortex-A55. Part of the GPU would be developed by the Chinese company, as Apple does on its chipset. It would provide a superior Adreno 630 performance on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 (1.5 times better).
The first benchmarks launched in AnTuTu have highlighted a huge score for Mate 20 – over 350,000 points against GALAXY S9 Plus with Snapdragon 845 which stops at approx. 265,000 points
