The Paris prosecutor's office announced Sunday the indictment of Alexandre Benalla, his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, for violence against protesters during demonstrations on 1 May.

With Benalla, four other suspects were indicted and placed under judicial control, including Vincent Crase, employee of the presidential party Republic En Marche! (LREM), writes agerpres.ro

The other three defendants are police officers who sent security cameras to Benalla; they had already been suspended for violating professional secrecy and diverted images of a video protection system.

Benalla had asked to accompany the police as an observer during demonstrations; he and the bodyguard Crase were filmed while striking protesters
