European officials say the nine people, citizens of several countries, died after eating listeria-contaminated corn, according to EFSA
In total, since June 8, 47 cases of illness have been reported 5 European countries: Great Britain, Austria, Denmark, Finland and Sweden
It is thought that the source of contamination is a corn packing plant in Hungary and that it was initially thought that it was only frozen corn that would have infected, but it turned out that in 2016 and 2017, the same bacteria was also found in other frozen vegetables from the same plant .
At the end of June, as a security measure, the Hungarian authorities declared that they prohibited the importation of frozen vegetables.
New cases still occur, because the incubation period is 70 days
Specialists advise us that before eating frozen vegetables and fruits boil them to avoid any risk of contamination.
