Dedicated to cinematographic and Balkan cuisine, the Divan Film Festival returns with its 9th edition from August 24 to 26 in Craiova and from August 27 to September 2 on the Danube, in the cultural port of the Fortress.

Famous for its relaxed atmosphere and unconventional spaces, the Divan Film Festival offers fans of cultural events movies, concerts, theatrical and culinary performances, under the theme of the 2018 edition Balkan Dreams

Mircea and Masha Dinescu, known for the revitalization of the ancient port of Cetate, turned into a cultural port. The Cultural Port Cetate hosts each year different artistic residencies or festival events

The program of this edition of the Divan Film Festival will include about fifty titles, fiction and documentaries chosen by Cătălin Olaru, artistic director or short films selected by Massimiliano Nardulli, programmer.

"Beloved or daring, the Balkans have always had a distinct personality in the collective imagination." From a cinematic point of view, the Balkans are a place where laughs, laments, dances, dies or living at the same level: excessive, with the pedal pressed to the end.
Behind every excess is a dream, this new edition is dedicated to them, to those dreams that define us and make the Balkans what it is. they are, "says Catalin Olaru, artistic director of the Divan Film Festival.

In addition to the films, the Divan Film Festival distinguishes itself through the cooking demonstrations supported by Mircea Dinescu and her guests. Every year, in the Cultural Port Cetate come from the heads of the Balkan countries and offer special menus inspired by the selection of films. Bulgarian, Albanian, Serbian and Turkish chefs, as well as representatives of kitchens from ethnic communities in Romania participated in the Divan Festival

Balkanistan Workshop, the workshop which reached its third edition and encourages collaboration between young people Filmmakers from the Balkans will perform this year at the Divan Film Festival. After selecting the winning scenario, the participants will work together to develop the project. It will be filmed at the Cultural Port of Cetate and presented in the next edition. The Divan Film Festival is a cultural project co-organized by the Foundation of Poetry "Mircea Dinescu" and the Cultural House "Traian Demetrescu", Craiova, supported by the National Center of Cinematography, in partnership with the 39 Romanian Cultural Institute.
