Following criticism of the poor construction of HTC U11, the Taiwanese company has made considerable efforts to make the HTC U12 + a more durable product, largely correcting the flaws of the previous model. But the new carcass design seems to have introduced a new problem, which remains unresolved in HTC's internal reliability tests.
Protected by a Gorilla Glass 5 screen attached to the metal body of the phone using a semi-rigid material, the HTC U12 + screen does not scratch contact with sharp objects and will not break too easily if you put it on the phone forgotten in the pocket behind your pants. Even if the bending can take permanent deformations with the application of a sufficiently large force, the case made on the metal frame is not easily broken and can be brought to the original shape by applying a similar force in the opposite direction
It is not known if HTC's engineers deliberately left this vulnerability, but the adhesive used to secure the glass cover at the back of the phone keeps getting stuck if the chassis frame is bent enough. The separation of the adhesive can prevent the cracking of the glass panel, thus avoiding an expensive repair
