Ronald Lee Haskell: Man convicted of killing his ex-wife's family in Texas

Ronald Lee Haskell, 39, was convicted of the murders of Stephen, Katie Stay and four of their five children in 2014 in Spring, Texas.

The authorities said that he entered the Stays on July 9, 2014, demanding to know where his wife, Melannie Haskell, was. She was not there, but her sister Katie Stay and her family were there.

Stephen Stay, 39, Katie Stay, 33, two boys aged 13 and 4 and two girls aged 9 and 7 were killed when Haskell opened fire, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said. Only one family member, Cassidy Stay, then aged 15, survived.

Authorities at the time indicated that she had been seriously injured, although she recovered fully afterwards.

The jurors unanimously rejected Thursday the defense of madness of Ronald Lee Haskell.

The jury was dismissed until Monday for sentencing.
