Outgoing Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler face tough re-election battles in January’s two polls that could determine control of the US Senate.

“It’s not decided. This is the key – it’s not decided,” McDaniel told a fiery crowd of Republicans who turned the RNC president’s welcome session on Saturday into a public broadcast of grievances. surrounding the November 3 elections.

She highlighted the certified results of the November 3 Senate race in Georgia, which showed Perdue the leader of Democratic challenger Jon Ossoff by more than 88,000 votes. In Georgia, if no candidate obtains more than 50% of the vote, the first two voters move to a second round.

“So if you lose your faith and don’t vote and people go, that will decide,” McDaniel said.

President Donald Trump, who announced Thursday that he would travel to Georgia next week to campaign for Loeffler and Perdue, has made unsubstantiated allegations of widespread fraud in Georgia, calling Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger “Enemy of the people”.

“Well, I said (to Sens. Loeffler and Perdue) today, I think you are dealing with a very fraudulent system. I am very worried about this,” the president said at a conference press release Thursday, calling the two Republican senators “great people.”

During the 20-minute event on Saturday, McDaniel responded to Republicans’ questions based on a series of false statements by Trump regarding certified election results in Georgia, including at least one voter who alleged that the Voting machines have changed the votes cast in favor of the President.

“We didn’t see that in the audit, so we just have to… This evidence that we haven’t seen, so we’ll have to wait and see,” she said.

Closing his remarks, McDaniel called on voters “angry with certain Republicans,” including Raffensperger, “to focus on the mission at hand.

“And that’s Jon Ossoff and (Raphael) Warnock,” McDaniel said, prompting a member of the audience to shout, “And Donald Trump!”

“But we have to focus on Jan. 5 now,” McDaniel continued. “We can sort out these other issues later.”

Speaking to reporters after the event, the RNC chairman dismissed fears that apprehension over the election’s legitimacy could discourage the president’s supporters from voting in the second round.

“The president has stated unequivocally that he supports Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue and that he will come to Georgia to campaign for them,” she told CNN.

“And they’re going to need him here to campaign, because as you saw right in this room, the president has broad support here in Georgia and they want to see him there on the election track for these candidates, as he continues to wage his own battles and ensure that his election is fair and transparent. “

On a Saturday small business walking tour in Atlanta, Ossoff called the Republicans’ election a “distraction.”

“So all this nonsense and distractions, the denial of the election result, we need to focus on containing the spread of this virus and rushing direct financial aid to ordinary Americans who are suffering,” he said. declared.
