Roy Keane praised Phil Foden after the England star’s stunning performance against Andorra, as the hard-to-please expert compared the youngster to NFL legend Tom Brady.
Foden, 21, was used in a deeper midfield role by England boss Gareth Southgate on Saturday night, operating in a double pivot alongside Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse.
And the Manchester City star shone for the Three Lions in a confident display on the outside floor, pulling the strings and playing a huge role in goals from Ben Chilwell and Bukayo Saka.

Foden has often opened Andorra with sweeping passes on the pitch and Manchester United legend Keane has compared the influence of the midfielder to that of famous quarterback Brady.
“I love my American football and Foden has been like a top quarterback,” the Irishman told ITV Sport.
“He was like Tom Brady. It just selects people. He’s got runners and he’s got wide receivers. It makes it seem like it’s so easy.

The Irishman added that Gareth Southgate’s abundance of options is a ‘big deal’ to have
Foden has had a brilliant few weeks for club and country, having scored against Liverpool in City’s 2-2 draw at Anfield before the international break.
Keane added that the 21-year-old is “maturing well” and that his development poses “big problems” for Southgate in terms of selection.
“He’s matured well over the past year and he’s played most weeks for Man City,” Keane said. “He plays in big games most weeks and in the best competition in Europe.
“Gareth will have big problems in the next few months, but a lot can change in football. With injuries and possible suspensions a lot can change, but Gareth is a lucky man because he has great options.
