Relocating to the United States was a big decision for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who had just started to set up shop at their Windsor, UK home, Frogmore Cottage. But as it became clear that they didn’t want the future that lay ahead – working as full-time royals with all the invasion of privacy that came with it – a move through l ‘Atlantic has become the most attractive option.

But with the relocation comes leaving the friends and family you love, and it looks like Meghan and Harry will miss the company of another royal couple in particular. Although they have close relationships with many members of the royal family, a recently published biography of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Finding Freedom, reveals that they have a particularly close connection to Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank.

“Eugenie had always been more than just Harry’s cousin. They were also his closest friends,” the book read, written by royal correspondents Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand. “Of all of the Queen’s grandchildren, Harry and Eugenie have one of the most natural bonds. Like Harry, Eugenie is loyal, honest and a lot of fun,” the authors reveal.

Harry and Eugenie frequented London clubs in their youth, but as the couple grew and found themselves in a serious and long-term relationship, their closeness remained and they became friendly with each other. . Princess Eugenie was, in fact, one of the first people Prince Harry told about his thriving relationship with Suits-era actress Meghan Markle.

“Harry had always confided in his cousin when it came to the women in his life. Not only did he trust her implicitly, but friends say that she gives good advice and that she was always ‘beyond wisdom’ during her years, ”says the biography, which has not been officially. authorized by Meghan and Harry but was searched with the help of ‘extended access to those closest to the couple’.

Eugenie’s response to her cousin’s new girlfriend was overwhelmingly positive. “She was nothing but encouraging about her new relationship. In fact, Eugenie, who had long wanted to see her cousin settle down and be happy, told friends that she loved Meghan and that ‘she was’ just the tonic’ for him. ” Freedom reveals.

And that’s how the quartet became a kind of group. The book describes one particular night they all dated, on Halloween 2016, when the Sussexes were still dating in secret. “Harry and Meghan had already dated on two double dates with [Eugenie and Jack]The book reads, but the couples met for the third time in Toronto, where Meghan was living at the time and Jack was on a work trip for tequila brand Casamigos.

It turned out to be a pretty important night that ended prematurely; At the masquerade party, the future Duke and Duchess learned their relationship was about to be made public by a newspaper and they returned home before being spotted together.

But the relationship between the two couples has remained strong ever since. And, although Finding Freedom suggests Princess Eugenie was upset that Meghan and Harry announced their pregnancy to the family just days before her October 2018 wedding, their friendship has survived. When baby Archie was born, he received “several visits from Eugenie and Jack,” the book reveals.

The coronavirus may have separated them in the past 6 months, but we’re sure couples will make transatlantic tours for these double dates as soon as it is safe to do so.
