The Royals announced on Wednesday they signed a right-hander Wade davis to a minor league contract. Davis, a Jet Sports customer, will likely be invited to Major League spring training and compete for a spot on the opening roster.
This marks the second year in a row that Kansas City has brought one of its former All-Star farmers back on a minor league arrangement. The Inked Royals Greg Holland to a similar contract a year ago and reaped huge benefits when Holland not only launched a rebound campaign, but also agreed to return in 2021 with an affordable one-year contract.
Interestingly, Athletic’s Alec Lewis reports (via Twitter) that Davis signed the exact same contract Holland did a year ago. Davis will earn a salary of $ 1.25 million if he is on the big league roster and can get an additional $ 1.125 million through incentives.
More soon.
