Coldplay’s new collaboration with BTS, “My Universe,” launched at number one on the Rolling stone Top 100 Songs chart, dethroning “Way 2 Sexy” by Drake. This marks both Coldplay and BTS’s first number one on the chart, and BTS makes history as the first Korean act to surpass the RS 100.
“My Universe” is a pop-funk love song – “You, you are, my universal / And I, just want to put you first” – with arena ambitions; it is co-written and co-produced by Top 40 figurehead Max Martin. The track only amassed 8.5 million streams, but like many BTS singles, it sold a staggering number of downloads, over 136,000. Drake’s “Way 2 Sexy”, which stars Future and Young Thug, won about three times as many streams, but only 4,100 downloads, falling to number two.
Even though “Way 2 Sexy” finished its run at number one, Drake still maintained four different songs in the Top Ten a month after the release of Boy in love certified: Her Right Said Fred sample hit was joined by “Knife Talk”, “Girls Want Girls” and “Fair Trade,” which each drew over 13 million streams. Lil Nas X had three Top Ten hits last week, but this week only one was left – “Industry Baby” with Jack Harlow (Number four, 20.6 million streams). The airy and pop radio ready “This is what I want” fell to number 12.
Kid Laroi’s “Stay” – which has some of the same co-authors as “This is What I Want” – held firm in the Top Ten as it did for several months. The same goes for “Fancy Like” by Walker Hayes, which broadcasts (13.3 million) and sells well (19,200), and “Heat Wave” by Glass Animals, which reached the Top Ten of the ranking last week after climbing for more than half the year.

The Rolling stone The Top 100 ranking lists the most popular songs of the week in the United States. Songs are categorized by Song Units, a number that combines audio streams and song sales using a custom weighting system. The table does not include passive listening like terrestrial radio or digital radio. The RS 100 graph is updated daily, and every week Rolling stone finalize and publish an official version of the chart, covering the seven-day period ending the previous Thursday.
The highest debut outside of Coldplay and BTS belonged to YoungBoy Never Broke Again, whose sad “Bad Morning” – “On three different drugs I’m trying to take my pain away, but it’s still gonna flow / Try my best to put a smile on my man but he still can’t cope “- crashed into the Top Ten with 12.1 million streams. Youngboy had 18 different chart entries this week after release of Sincerely, Kentrell. Eight of those songs landed in the Top 40. With that, he broke Drake’s record as the artist with the most cumulative song entries on the RS 100, at 79.
Gunna and Future landed just behind “Bad Morning” with “Too Easy,” which amassed 11.4 million streams. Future has three different chart entries as a featured singer – two with Drake and now one with Gunna. Joyner Lucas’ collaboration with J. Cole, “Your Heart,” also performed well in opening week, launching at number 18 (9.7 million streams). And “For Tonight,” a spare piano ballad from R&B singer Giveon, debuted at number 71 (5.5 million streams).
