HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (KABC) – It’s the end of an era for an iconic restaurant on Huntington Beach Pier. Ruby’s Diner closes its doors for good on Friday.
In 2018, the owner of the Ruby’s chain filed for bankruptcy.
Customers were seen lining up outside the restaurant on Friday, waiting to have one last meal.
The restaurant has a spectacular location, right over there on the tip of the pier.
Ruby’s replaced the old restaurant, which fell overboard in a big storm that damaged the pier in the late 1980s.
City officials told the Orange County Register that the facility was purchased by a new group of owners who were considering opening a seafood restaurant there.
