President Trump’s campaign on Sunday distanced himself from Sidney Powell, saying the lawyer who alleged voter fraud in the November election was “not a member of Trump’s legal team.”
“Sidney Powell practices law on his own,” Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani and fellow Trump lawyer Jenna Ellis said in a statement. “She is not a member of Trump’s legal team. She is also not the President’s lawyer in a personal capacity. ”
No further details or clarifications were offered.

In a statement obtained by the Wall Street Journal, Powell said, “I agree with today’s statement. I will represent #WeThePeople and seek the truth. I intend to expose all fraud and to drop the chips where they can. We will not. Let the foundations of this great Republic be destroyed by despicable fraud. ”
The statement comes after Powell – who is also General Mike Flynn’s attorney – gave several press conferences on behalf of Trump, who included her in a list of attorneys on his team in a November 14 tweet.

Powell appeared alongside Giuliani at a lightning press conference Thursday where they both made a number of allegations regarding coordinated electoral fraud in a number of states.

Later that night, Fox News’ Tucker Carlson harassed Powell for failing to provide any evidence to support his claims “despite many polite requests.”
“When we kept pushing, she got mad and told us to stop contacting her,” Carlson said on his show “Tucker Carlson Tonight”. “When we checked with other people around the Trump campaign, people in positions of authority, they also told us that Powell never gave them any evidence to prove what she said at the conference. PENNSYLVANIE JUDGE LAUNCHES TRUMP’S MINUTES
In a Saturday night interview with Newsmax, Powell appeared to accuse Georgia’s Republican Gov. Brian Kemp and his Republican Secretary of State of being part of a plot involving the awarding of a voting system contract that, according to her, damaged Trump’s candidacy for re-election.
“Georgia is probably going to be the first state I am going to blow up and Mr Kemp and the secretary of state have to go,” she said, later adding that a lawsuit she planned would ‘suing the state would be “biblical.”
The status of that trial was unclear on Sunday night.
Powell, a former federal prosecutor, took over last year as senior counsel for Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Russia.
Since then, a federal judge has dismissed his allegations of prosecution misconduct and has questioned some of his arguments, including his suggestion in a hearing several weeks ago that his conversations with Trump about the ‘Flynn case were privileged.

She supported a Department of Justice motion to dismiss the lawsuits, a request that remains pending before U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan.
