Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James will continue to wear number 23 for one more season.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, James's plan to give his new teammate Anthony Davis his number has not been approved by Nike because of "production problems and the massive financial impact "that the company would have had because of the amount of jerseys No. 23 James already produced.

Haynes said the NBA had set March 15 teams to inquire officially on the change of jersey number. The league was ready to allow the change if the Lakers could find a deal with Nike.

When the Lakers officially acquired Davis pelicans from New Orleans, James posted a photo on Instagram with his new teammate wearing a No. 23 jersey from Los Angeles.

Sources said Haynes that James was doing everything possible to make Davis feel "as comfortable as possible" in his new environment.

James then tweeted number 6 with an emoji at the hands of prayer, stating that he could return to the number of jersey that he wore during his four seasons with the Miami Heat:

We do not know which number Davis will wear during the 2019-2020 season. The All-Star six times has used the number 23 which dates back to his time to Prospects Charter Schools-Joselin, which removed his jersey in 2013.
