Rumors: The wireless charging of AirPods is fully charged in 15 minutes, the thickest and heaviest case, Dark Mode entering iOS 13.1

Apple has promised the AirPods wireless charging box for 537 days (and more). Leaked on Twitter Max Weinbach was featured in the EverythingApplePro video today with some details on the wireless charging situation of the AirPods. However, Weinbach does not yet have a precise record of accuracy with Apple News, so we treat these reports as summary rumors at the moment.

We have seen several sources indicate that AirPower wireless chargers and AirPods will be launched in the coming months. Weinbach reaffirms these claims with some additional details.

He says that the charging speed of AirPods in the case of wireless charging will be "very fast", from zero to 100% charge in about fifteen minutes. Apple's current AirPods total 3 hours of use with a 15 minute charge time. To go from nothing to 100% in the same amount of time would therefore represent a considerable gain in speed.

However, in exchange for the integration of Qi coils, the load case apparently becomes thicker and heavier. We expect this to be a relatively marginal, but still noticeable, variation. It will also be assumed to be slightly longer in one dimension. The AirPods 2 are described as having a similar appearance to that of the Apple Pencil 2; less brilliant and more dull.

According to some rumors, the 2019 iPhones will also offer this type of matte glass appearance. This could be a new trend for all new Apple product designs.

In a previous tweet, Weinbach claimed that iOS 13 would not include dark mode. Instead, it will come in a one-off update, like iOS 13.1, because the work on the feature is behind schedule. Again, Weinbach has some story in the Android space, but he is new to Apple's rumor game and we treat his assertions as tentative until they can be proven (or disproved) later this year.
