A group of spectators near the 16th hole of Pebble Beach Golf Links was surprised by a frightening surprise on Friday when a fleeing golf cart arrived directly in their direction. The vehicle became sensitive when a box it was carrying fell from a pile in the back and landed directly on the accelerator shortly after a salesman had parked it near a booth.

The only video in motion of the incident is a four-second clip that shows the driverless wagon pointing towards the spectators and seeming to come into contact with a person trying to take the vehicle head-on.

Witnesses corroborated the heroism of this type and others, mentioning that once it became apparent that the cart posed a danger to people in the area, the spectators had tried to do their best to prevent any further damage. Some have been more successful than others, according to people who have spoken to Golf.com.

"This guy was trying to chase him away and was diving after, trying to stop him, I think he was just a spectator. And he was hurt diving after that, he was sitting on the ground for a moment after, not moving.

"Finally, a guy jumped on it and really turned the wheel, then pushed the box, it's crazy."

Five people in total were injured. One person had a broken arm, another a spinal injury and the others a series of minor injuries. According to the California Highway Police, the victim was between 25 and 82 years old.
