Russ Davis Wholesale – Crazy-Fresh Recalls Chicken Products Because of Erroneous Allergens and Undeclared Allergens

WASHINGTON, February 25, 2019 – Russ Davis Wholesale – Eagan, Minnesota-based Crazy-Fresh recalls approximately 70 kg of Chicken Caesar Salad products due to poorly labeled allergens and undeclared allergens, announced today FSIS (Food Safety and Inspection Service) of the US Department of Agriculture. The product contains milk and anchovies, known allergens, which are not declared on the product label.

Caesar Chicken Salads have been prepared from February 11 to 22, 2019. The following products are likely to be recalled: [View Labels (PDF only)]

  • 10 oz. Black plastic bowl with a clear plastic lid containing the "Caesar Salad with Chicken CRAZY FRESH" and the expiry dates from 15/02/2019 to 26/02/2019 appearing on the label.
  • 10 oz. Black plastic bowl with a clear plastic lid containing the words "JERRY'S the Kitchen, CAESAR CHICKEN SALAD" and "SELL BY" dated 15/02/2019 to 26/02/2019 shown on the label.

The products being recalled carry the plant number "P-45204" inside the USDA inspection mark. These items were shipped to outlets in Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Mt., Neb., N.D., S.D., Wisconsin and Wyo.

The problem was discovered on February 24, 2019, when the FSIS was informed that the establishment had discovered the wrong branding of the product during a review of the label.

No cases of adverse effect related to the consumption of these products has been confirmed. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a health care provider.

FSIS is concerned that some products may end up in consumer refrigerators. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS routinely performs recall effectiveness checks to verify that recalling companies are notifying their customers and that steps are being taken to ensure that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, retail distribution lists will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
