I can not even begin to express in words all the emotions I currently have. Oklahoma has made a great trip! When I arrived here, I was 18, with bright eyes and completely unaware of all the incredible things that were going to unfold soon. I grew up in Oklahoma with an amazing group of people. The people here are what makes this place so special. From the fans, my coaches, my teammates, all the organization Thunder, Mr. Bennett, Sam Presti, my friends and all the members of the community. You are all what makes Oklahoma such a beautiful place and the reason I loved playing here all this time. You have supported me throughout the ups and downs and you have stood by my side during the good and the bad times. I am eternally grateful to you. I met so many amazing people who helped make me the man I am today. I hope to have touched as much the community of Oklahoma as Oklahoma has had an impact on me and my family. I'm leaving Oklahoma with so many friends and so much gratitude. I could never thank you enough for staying with me. It's a dream and a whirlwind. #WHY NOT

Westbrook, who was the only remaining player in Thunder's first season in Oklahoma City after the transfer of the Seattle franchise in 2008, recorded his third consecutive season with a double-double (22.9 points per game, 11.1 per 10, 10.7 per game).

The star guard will join the forces with former Thunder teammate James Harden in Houston, creating one of the NBA's best backcourts. Meanwhile, Oklahoma City continues with an avalanche of first-round picks as the franchise embarks on a new direction. The Thunder also received Chris Paul in the Westbrook contract – according to reports – but his future with the team remains unknown.
